The truth is, starting therapy can bring up a lot of questions. Besides the practical details, you might wonder what to expect, how it works, and whether it's right for you. We're here to help answer those questions.

Getting Started

What should I expect in my first therapy session?

The truth is, your first session is all about getting to know each other and understanding your needs. Besides discussing what brings you to therapy, we'll talk about your goals, answer any questions you have, and develop a plan that feels right for you. It's a collaborative, judgment-free conversation.

How do I know if therapy is right for me?

Therapy can be beneficial for anyone facing life challenges, emotional struggles, relationship issues, or personal growth goals. And the thing is, if you're wondering whether therapy might help, that's often a good sign it's worth exploring. We offer a free consultation to help you decide.

Do you offer in-person or online therapy?

Yes, both! Therefore, you can choose what works best for your schedule and comfort level. In-person sessions are available at our Austin, TX office, and secure teletherapy sessions are available for clients throughout Texas.

Insurance & Payment

Do you accept insurance?

Insurance coverage varies, and we're happy to discuss your specific plan. Besides working with select insurance providers, we also offer competitive self-pay rates. Contact us to verify your insurance benefits and discuss payment options.

What are your session fees?

Session fees vary depending on the type of therapy and session length. The truth is, we believe quality mental health care should be accessible. Besides insurance options, we offer flexible payment plans. Please contact us for detailed pricing information.

Do you offer a free consultation?

Yes! We offer a free 15-minute phone consultation to discuss your needs, answer questions, and determine if we're a good fit. And the thing is, this no-obligation conversation helps you feel confident about taking the next step.

Sessions & Scheduling

How long is each therapy session?

Standard individual therapy sessions are typically 50-60 minutes. Besides individual sessions, couples and family therapy sessions may be longer (75-90 minutes) to accommodate multiple perspectives and dynamics.

How often should I attend therapy?

Most clients benefit from weekly sessions initially. Therefore, as you make progress, we may adjust the frequency to bi-weekly or monthly maintenance sessions. We'll work together to find a schedule that supports your goals and fits your life.

What is your cancellation policy?

We require 24 hours notice for cancellations or rescheduling. The truth is, this policy allows us to offer your appointment time to other clients in need. Late cancellations may be subject to a fee.

Do you offer evening or weekend appointments?

Yes! Besides daytime appointments, we offer flexible scheduling including evening and weekend sessions to accommodate busy schedules. Contact us to discuss availability.

Confidentiality & Safety

Is therapy confidential?

Yes, absolutely. What you share in therapy is protected by strict confidentiality laws. And the thing is, there are only a few legal exceptions (like if there's risk of harm to yourself or others) which we'll discuss in our first session.

Are online therapy sessions secure?

Yes, we use HIPAA-compliant, encrypted video platforms to ensure your privacy and security. Therefore, you can feel confident that your teletherapy sessions are as private as in-person sessions.

Will you share information with my doctor or other providers?

We only share information with your written consent. Besides respecting your privacy, coordinated care can sometimes be beneficial. If you'd like us to collaborate with other providers, we'll discuss this together and obtain your written authorization.

Therapy Approaches

What therapy approaches do you use?

I use evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness-Based Therapy, Parts Work (IFS), Self-Compassion Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing. The truth is, we'll tailor the approach to your unique needs and goals.

How long does therapy take?

The duration varies based on your goals and needs. Some clients find relief in a few months, while others benefit from longer-term support. And the thing is, we'll regularly check in about your progress and adjust as needed. You're in control of your therapy journey.

Do you prescribe medication?

As an LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker), I don't prescribe medication. However, I can work collaboratively with your psychiatrist or primary care provider if medication is part of your treatment plan. Besides therapy, we can discuss whether a medication evaluation might be helpful.

Specific Concerns

Do you work with couples and families?

Yes! Besides individual therapy, I specialize in couples therapy and family therapy. Therefore, whether you're working on communication, resolving conflicts, or strengthening relationships, we can work together to create positive change.

Can therapy help with trauma?

Yes, trauma therapy is one of my specializations. I use gentle, trauma-informed approaches including Parts Work (IFS) and other evidence-based methods to help you heal from difficult experiences at your own pace. The truth is, healing from trauma is possible with the right support.

What if I don't know what to talk about in therapy?

That's completely normal! And the thing is, I'll guide the conversation and help you explore what's most important. Besides, not knowing where to start is actually common and we'll work through it together.
