Confidentiality Statement

The truth is, confidentiality is the cornerstone of effective therapy. Besides being a legal requirement, it's essential for creating a safe space where you can be completely honest and vulnerable. Therefore, we maintain the highest standards of privacy protection.

Our Commitment to Your Privacy

As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), I am bound by strict ethical and legal standards regarding confidentiality. Your privacy is not just a legal requirement—it's fundamental to the therapeutic relationship and your healing process.

Everything you share in our therapy sessions is confidential and protected by both state and federal laws, including HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act). This means your information cannot be disclosed to anyone without your written consent, with very few legal exceptions.

Our Confidentiality Principles

These core principles guide how we protect your privacy and maintain confidentiality in all aspects of our therapeutic relationship.

Complete Privacy Protection

Everything you share in therapy sessions is strictly confidential and protected by law. Your information cannot be disclosed without your written consent.

HIPAA Compliance

We follow all Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) regulations to ensure your health information is secure and protected.

Limited Exceptions

There are very few legal exceptions to confidentiality, such as imminent danger to yourself or others, which we will discuss with you if they arise.

Your Rights

You have the right to access your records, request changes, and understand how your information is used and protected.

Limited Exceptions to Confidentiality

While confidentiality is strictly maintained, there are very few legal exceptions where I may be required to break confidentiality. These situations are rare and will be discussed with you if they arise:

  • Imminent danger to yourself or others
  • Suspected child or elder abuse
  • Court-ordered disclosure
  • Insurance billing requirements (with your consent)
  • Professional consultation (anonymized)

If any of these situations arise, I will discuss the circumstances with you and explain what information needs to be shared and with whom, whenever possible.

Your Privacy Rights

As a therapy client, you have specific rights regarding your personal information and how it's handled:

  • Access to your therapy records
  • Request corrections to your records
  • Request restrictions on information sharing
  • Receive a copy of this confidentiality statement
  • File a complaint if you believe your privacy has been violated
